Bike Day
Cycle Day
For Bike Week 2014, the school held a bike day on Thursday 19th June. The Council's Smarter Travel Officer, our own Johnny Brunnock, supplied balance bikes and brought the infant classes on circuits of the school yard. Middle classes with some confident infant cyclists cycled around the Community Centre Block (2 km) and Senior Classes cycled the Feddans/Clonmoyle block. Barry Meehan gave talks on bike maintenance and 260 euros was donated to Ger Kirwan (Caretaker) and Matt Greene (Parent) who are cycling from Mizen to Malin for Cancer Research. The pupils also filled out their cycle logs for the week in an attempt to accumulatively match the Mizen to Malin distance.
Thank you to the Parents, to Johnny Brunnock, Barry Meehan and the transition year students, who gave so generously of their time to make the day such a great success.

Fairtrade Fortnight (24th February to 9th March)
We have been doing a lot of work on Fairtrade this week. We have
learned that a lot of the food we eat comes from developing countries,
for example, chocolate, bananas, tea, coffee, sugar. Fairtrade is
about ensuring that the farmers who produce these foods get a fair
price for their produce. We now know that if you see the Fairtrade
Logo on a product it means the farmer got a fair price.
